Hey miss supreme

How about an update on that Holstein/colored cattle spread chart.

Re: Hey miss supreme

Choice steers at the Tama Market (and live cattle in most areas) have been having a very good start to 2018.  Unfortunately, Holsteins at the Tama Market are not following the same trend (they were following the trend until last week).

Here is the graph, updated through January 2018:

Re: Hey miss supreme

Thank you. Getting kind of wild isn't it. We have a load sold going to Pennsylvanian for June delivery. Base price $1.03. Should clear close to $1.00. Not much but a lot better then the current $.80 local price. Just bought a group of 525lb colored heifers. Getting tired of the black and white deal. We'll still get some bucket calves in the spring but might cut back some.

Re: Hey miss supreme

Those heifers sound like a great idea!

If you have the feed, I think right now (before the grass starts growing and spring fever kicks in) is a great time to buy.

It is my opinion that cattle prices are almost always higher in April than they are in January and February.
