Ireland cattle ban lifted on imports

I just read in the newspaper the United States has lifted a 15 year old ban on beef imports from Ireland

Does Ireland export much beef?  Import-export storylines seem to surface more as products become more valuable.

Farm radio had a story about other countries (Canada?) retaliating against the US because of COOL.  Putting tariffs on our exports.  Anything to that?

I don't know anything about those two subjects just that the government is going to let Ireland export beef to the United States

Well thanks.  Import-export changes are important to our market.  Rumors of soybean-meal reaching the southeast from South America have affected the grain market in the past.  China is still on its game.

Don't hear much about the meats, good trade with our neighbors to the north and south.  If  the COOL issue has legs, it would have an impact here.
