Re: Look at the cow slaughter numbers!
BTW hard to believe but dairy culls were as high as 90 cents last week! This increase in cull dairy cows is only gonna get worse. I wonder how long before we hit 65,000 + dairy culls? May be we can get this cow herd under 9 million this summer!?

Right up till it turns into $4! And that is coming very soon. Be very careful as many are about to see the farmer as the number 1 enemy.

High prices in this economy is highly unusual--- guess we will let the "experts" reshuffle the deck and get ready for the next line of goods sale --- the old pyramid of every step up some one is eliminated even though it can be very lonely on the last box---

Re: Look at the cow slaughter numbers!
We finally got a little mixed precip. here in NE Nebr. Yesterday --great to get the fire danger down and a pump primer for spring --- I would hope this market would catch it's breath and end this extreme upward ramp for our consumer friends---

Re: Look at the cow slaughter numbers!
I think the industry worries too much about the economy.
food as a % of household budgets is much lower than 30-40 yrs ago.
economy is still 15 trillion, though flatish.
3& burger vs 6$ chicken boneless cutlets?
cow pepole are staring at the high price for culls and, liquidating.
should be buying, as we are building a bigger shortage for later this yr and next.
US likes beef and eats a lot, 2.50 or 3
