Theres been piles of dried out cattle harvested in 2018....

Matter of Fact record cow slaughter...it's still ongoing.

by end of Jan of 2019 the availability of non feds in the USA is Gone.

its that simple.

sooooo what happens is the Normal Seasonal Up ( Jan thru Aug 2019 ) in cull cows returns.

Expect a memorable Up in cull cows...

say from bout $60 to $65cwt live to in the $130 cwt live bout Aug  2019.

perhaps loading some boats with older cows, pocketing i.e. short weaning their calves and selling a fat cow come Aug could work well.

They tell me the same packers who kill cull cows also kill Holsteins. Any truth to that and will this help the Holstein price?

Thank you for recommending grazing out the sudan, and not worrying about the lack of cube consumption.  Over the last few weeks we grazed out a section of the sudan.  We are having a cold snap, so we pulled the cattle off of it for a few days, but we are planning on grazing out the rest of it when the weather warms up again.

It has been about a month since Tama reported any Holsteins on their market report.  Did they stop selling Holsteins, or just decide to stop reporting the prices?

I noticed that too. Been thinking about selling another load to Pennsylvania. Running a #12 basis off the board for whatever month you choose. Looking pretty good compared to the local market.
