Pair Turnaround Project
Last Spring, Dad and I decided to purchase pairs, feed out the calves, and rebreed and resell the cows.
We sourced pairs thru a couple of sources with most of the cows being out of condition.
While we had originally planned on reselling the cows as breds, we ended up calving out most of the cows and reselling them as pairs.
We are currently feeding out the calves from the pairs.
We found the program to be an interesting one, but probably will not repeat it due to the wide diversity within it.
11 photos.
1-3: When we first bought the pairs.
4-5: Shortly after purchase when we had turned the pairs out to grass.
6-11: This spring, shortly before we sold them.
Things to notice:
In photo 3 the motley face (#12), a broken mouth, is the same cow in photo 9.
Also in photo 3, the cow on the right side of the photo (#4) is the same cow in photo 6.
In photo 4 the cow at the front of the photo (#1) is the same cow in photo 10.
