Record Live Cattle Futures

Fat Cattle Futures this week have made new record highs on weather concerns, strong corn prices and continued Fund buying.  Yesterday we saw a dip in Open Interest so there was likely some Shorts covering too, helping to magnify the rally. We have seen no cash trade this week and strength on the Board will allow cattlemen to demand higher prices for the week.  Send me an email to be added to my mailing list...

maybe we'll start a trend towards Real prices, like the rest the folks on the globe get for their cattle.

Cattle folks in the usa just another term for "poor folks from WAY out of town," compared to cattle folks from literally Everywhere else.

Don't you think Mark that part of the reason for our lower price here is that we are being discounted for frieght?  The transportation cost may have more to dowith the spread than anything else? 
In Dairy the kiwi auction sets the world price so the price is FOB Kiwi. So we are going tostay below that until the KIWI's get caught to short and have to come to us for product for their supplies. Maybe same in the meats?  I don't know but that my theory.

Kevin what is the break even for these cattle coming out of feedlots if they are buying these 500 lb calves and buying $6 corn right now? Does a calf placed today at these inputs cover the cash costs?
