Seeding some cattle feed

Planning to sow some Haygrazer next week. With the price of feeders being so strong it is hard to know if the value of the feed when fed will be worth the trouble. However, if I don't plunk the seed in the dirt, there won't be any feed to speculate with. Sometimes writing the check for the inputs is the hardest decision I have to make.

Last year bought 450wt. Long weaned calves, short yearlings and such cost $150cwt. In May, steers and heifers mixed, worked pretty well.  

This year say the same deal calves gonna cost say $165cwt weigh 425. They'll bring back say $150cwt weighing 850 or just finish em and they'll likely bring $160cwt......well see.  The feed spread is fantastic...feed is $50cwt cog...and cattle are $150cwt.

In the Midwest, some good quality 400# calves are bringing more than $200 cwt.

The long calves and short yearlings been going to the Midwest BTW.

Anyway last years did.

Drier than dry here soooo a lot of az/nm inventory coming up.

From his post, it sounded like he was pleased with the cows you shipped him.  

I know that the Longhorn and Corriente breeds are usually some of the lowest maintenance bovines.  They sure are entertaining to see too!

Neighbor have gotten several loads....black and beautifulls to functional crossbred cows also some herfys.

There are definitely advantages to being diversified.

In your opinion, what is the most unusual looking breed of cattle?  Also, describe the funniest looking bovine you have ever seen, please.

look like antilope type cattle.  Are used in the Barzona breed. BTW there's 850 breeds of cattle.  Those Afrikanders are frugal and functional.....1st cross on em is herfys on the way to Barzona.  Interesting that Afrikanders and Afrikander herfy horns go strait up., ie look like antilope....Barzona horns all curl down.
