Re: Short on hay?
Hay supplies are short in the northern tundra, I`d say the price is twice what it was last year. 3x3x7 squares that were $45 last year are $90 this year. And with a foot of snow and cold April 15th grass isn`t coming on soon, so it could get crazy.

Re: Short on hay?
BA Deere,
Thanks. That helps confirm what I am hearing. I wonder how widespread the hay shortage is in the Corn Belt?
Thanks,
Mike

Re: Short on hay?
k-289,
Yes, hay industry folks in multiple Midwestern states are confirming that cattle operators have had to start feeding hay early and now it's lasting at least two weeks and maybe a month longer than normal. I'm hearing, in at least one state, cattle are being taken to the sale barn because the operator is out of hay.

Re: Short on hay?
Here in North Texas, we have plenty of grass currently; but we need rain, so the grazing may be short lived.
