Whiteface Surprise

We have a very small cow herd with only two of our cows being whitefaces. Everyone else is solid black including our Angus bulls.

I was expecting all of our calves to be black this year; however, the last one of our cows to calve surprised us with a very cute whiteface bull calf.

He got an ear tag this afternoon which he did not like, but I think he may have enjoyed the neck rub I gave him just a little bit.

I run mostly bwf cows and solid black bulls. I have all colors under the rainbow it seems with calves. Pure blacks, pure reds, and white faces on both colors too. I even have a charlois that had a solid black baby last week!

Sounds like a very colorful herd full of surprises!

I have a dairy herd and just for fun I've done a few holstein/red and white holstein/jersey crossed and came up with a cherry red jersey that has turned nearly black as a yearling. Also a black calf with white swirling that I named Marble.
