Re: 2010 Yield Results
Talked to one of our BTO's at the elevator yesterday (near Dayton Ohio). He is still harvesting corn and thinks his average will yield will come in between 160 and 170bpa, That is 40 to 50 below last year.
We ran 30 acres of an early variety bean yesterday. They made just over 35 bpa. That's 14 below last year. Neighbors report the early varieties have yeilded better so far. 33bpa seems to be emerging as the average in our area.

Re: 2010 Yield Results
soybeans are finished on our farm, after dad crunched the numbers, looked like 70-80.5 bpa. test weights were kinda low at 55-57, moisture was fairly even with wettest load 12.6 and driest 11.1%. Start corn in a few days to a week. Oh, we call this SCWI but about 30-ish miles NE of Madison, WIs.
Beans in 30 inch rows, 4-5 feet tall before drydown.

Re: 2010 Yield Results
Well we finished up our soybeans, they averaged out at 52 bpa. Our county average I believe is 40 bpa. Corn yields in this area are lower than normal but no disaster.

Re: 2010 Yield Results
Just a little report on bean yields. My man finishe our bean crop today and our yield average was 59 buhels per acre and change. The first field averaged 55. 27 but the larger field yielded 62 bushels and change. Tht brought the overall average to 59 plus.
This was the second year for pioneer variety 92y30. both years averaged 59 plus bushels. This was the second year in a row for record overall yields. I have had better yields but not over the whole farm.
I am quite pleased as there are some folks suffering substantial crop losses due to ponding and hail damage. Sometimes we are just lucky

Re: 2010 Yield Results
179 low for corn so far, 226 high. Can you believe NK beat Pioneer that badly? I have never ever seen that happen before. Is NK catching on?
Lowest beans were 58, highest 78. I don't know where all the beans are coming from with only 4 inches all summer and most days at 90 degrees.
Field fires are a big concern, saw one yesterday and one today and no good reason why it started but it did.
I averaged 202 on a new farm to me, 190 on another, both notill. The good thing was most of it wasn't contracted. Contracts cost me a ton of money this year but hindsight is always 20/20.
This is in the Wilmington Ohio area.

C IN
Far enough along to project we'll do a bit under 200 on corn, high 50s on beans. Beans could have been best ever with an inch of rain in the last third of August but didn't happen and I've done a whole lot worse. Actually a bit surprised that there was enough soil moisture to finish to that extent- particularly since maturities leaned to the full end.
Both will be below the last two years but those years were just ridiculous- 200+ and 60+ on what has to be descibed as B+ ground at best.
So I don't know what that says about the larger picture- our sils should yield above the IN average but not hugely- these are still well above projected state average.
I do know that we spent a fortune to buy that yield- fungicide, top of the line triples etc. Need around 180 at $4 to cover all costs.
Still remains scary- a yield at insurance threshold (80% of 172) and no price pop loses $210/acre against all costs. Some of that in C IL and a few other spots this year.
Thus, glad to walk away with any sort of profit and looks like we'll pocket $50-60 acre after family, depreciation, indirects- hopefully everything.
Be safe, h

Re: 2010 Yield Results
Finally got going yesterday after 2" of rain the past week. 62.8 BPA on 21 acre field. 2nd best yield ever on this field which on average is my 3rd highest yielder. Dennis Gartman predicts "significantly" higher grains 6 mos. from now.

Re: 2010 Yield Results
Clarke County, Iowa:
Soybeans harvested Wednesday were yielding between 45-60 bushels per acre. The farmer reported that the Cargill facility in Iowa City was full and the Des Moines facility will be closing, due to being full, on Saturday. Semi-loads of soybeans are coming in from Iowa and Missouri. Beans are flowing into the elevators and processors. But, the processors are bidding a lot higher for the crop.
