Re: 2010 Yield Results
These are whole farm averages, weighed at the scales. For corn 181 bu. to an acre, beans went 75 bu. to an acre.

That is a good post
I am trying to get those yields without fungicide and all the extra expenses to net more profit. Either way you go it is hard and expensive.
I think I can walk out with $100 net profit but remember I am still learning at 60 and rented my first farm when I was 13. I was probably teaching school when you where out there doing what I wanted to do.
I have no regrets and I hope no one does. It is difficult to figure out what works and what doesn't on your farm.
Many farmers beat me in yield but I want to grow and out profit them.

Re: 2010 Yield Results
The local elevator filled up with beans yesterday. They now can only take in what gets trucked out. Many farmers now have semis so it's going to be slow from here on out. Later beans here are finally drying out too. Yields have been above average. A salesman at JD dealer said machinery is flying off the lot so fast it's hard to keep up on what the inventory is.

Re: That is a good post
Ed I don't' do anything special, start planting as soon as the ground is ready. This year happened to be April 1st. Started drilling beans 200,000 seeds per acre is what I try for. Started corn on April 6th. at 30,800 pop. with Lbs.150 Of 28% at preplant, then come back with 2 gal. Of CORON with roundup or ignite for a total of 180 actual N. As far as the beans some needed sprayed once some twice, that is when we put the Headline on. Iam sure the fungicide payed for itself, but I think early planting is were the best yield comes from and great seed of course " Becks". Brian
