Average bean yields
I got started harvesting late, and after hearing generally reliable reports of beans in the 60's I hoped at least to get into the 50s. After a start of 13 acres, my calibrated yield monitor is showing 45 bpa. This is about average for me. This is a late season bean. Moisture is about 11-11.5%.
So, not all the bean yields are good.

Re: Average bean yields
We're done in ncia. not sure about others, but i didn't have any 60's. all but one field went 53-57. that one was 49. Not what we would like, but good uinder the circumstances. I guess when we hear "better than expected" it leaves alot of gray area for the "expected" part. One other thing that I've heard is that late planted and full season bean yields were hurt quite a bit by the sept freeze. I even had one person tell me they had a crop insurance claim on their late planted soys.

Re: Average bean yields
Best dryland beans we have ever raised here in SC Nebraska.
Irrigated are average.
Bean harvest on down hill side, maybe another week and it will be wrapped up in this area.

Re: Average bean yields
NC Iowa beans were better than we thought they would be. Most of ours came in at 50-53 bpa. We did have a couple that we claimed on for 27bpa and a 31bpa. Those we some rough looking fields in mid- late August. The corn has been all over the board our downed corn is only going 110 to 150. When you get into the good standing corn is bumps up to 180-190. Finally got 3/4 of an inch of rain yesterday. Soo nice to see it rain and the smell of it that we have been missing since July. It will knock the fire danger down also which is a true blessing.

Re: Average bean yields
Finally got going yesterday 10-17. RR2 3.0 beans planted 6-3, 51 bpa, same variety same field went 64 last year. I was expecting 55 but due to no rain for 5 weeks after planting was done I can't complain too much. On average this is my 3rd highest tielding field. Going into hiighest average yielding field today.
