Re: Bean leaf disease showing up
Saw some the other day biking past some neighbor's fields. Just started biking the back roads recently. You can get a lot better look at crops at 15 mph.

89 - I will agree 100 % with you = sudden death - notice the veins are still green .
BTW - Soybean Vein Necrosis has been confirmed - here in Shelby County by the Purdue Lab . It is in a test plot of a good friends - will try and post up some pictures of this .

Re: Bean leaf disease showing up
I was thinking about trying a few soybeans on my farm next year. Is disease a real issue with dryland soybeans? It's like corn was this year, I've never tried to grow them before.

Shaggy. I know it's not normal but if you get 12 inches of rain just after planting, if you do double crop. Your biggest problem will be the seed floating out of the ground. That much rain may have to change you definition of dry land farming. Our problems here in Ohio, this year, are probably the result of 19 strait days of rain back in July, with high humidity since.

Re: Bean leaf disease showing up
Yep it's SDS. For some reason it seems to like this 13 day dry spell. Had to run over to the next county (our FSA office closed) and saw a little bit of it in nearly every field along the way. It is attacking the top of the plant so it is easy to spot. Hope it doesn't take off across these fields. Beans are done flowering here and trying to fill.
