Conklin fertilizers

I just recently attened a meeting for Conklin Fertilizers.  I was very interested in it.  It almost sounds to good to be true.  A lot of these NCGA winners are using Conklin products.  The research I have seen looks very promising but I was wondering if anybody here has had experiance with it, good or bad.

Re: Conklin fertilizers

I have no doubt that the Conklin products will provide some fertility to your crop. The problem I see with products like these...is it the most economical way to achieve the same fertility. I would use the Conklin products based on NCGA yield winners net profit...rather than on their gross yield....because I know a lot of guys that go after those awards..and they never tell you the extra pass they make with the side dress equipment..or the multiple fungicide applications they use to achieve them.

Re: Conklin fertilizers

What is so different about Conklin fertilizer? I have never heard of it. How were your corn yields this year? 110 bushel corn was pretty average here in the southern part of the county, you guys got more rain so I was just curious.

Re: Conklin fertilizers

We averaged 170 across the farm.  I had one field go 200 bu. average.  I do not know a whole lot about the conklin fert. but it is not just any fertilizer apparently.  We will see.  There is a pro ag 1 meeting in lansing at the end of the month.  I hope to learn more then.

Re: Conklin fertilizers

Conklin products are of the highest quality. They also have a very steep price tag. I used them for a few years and was very satisfied, but did some testing on my own and could not see any difference between the same products from the co-op and they were much cheaper. Needless to say I switched and have been just as satisfied.  You won't go wrong but you could go cheaper.

Re: Conklin fertilizers

My experience has been that Conklin fertilizers are non corosive and very high quality.

It sounds like winning 1st place at a cattle show.  Takes a lot of money to win.

Re: Conklin fertilizers

One thing that worries me about their program is that you are applying less nutrients because they are supposed to be more available right away versus some other fertilizers that  may take time to become fully available.  So over time if you are applying less nutrients are you going to start lowering your index's.
