Corn development

All,

I'm thinking this early-season heat has caused the corn to pop--or pineapple--depending on heat severity/moisture stress.

How is the corn in your area looking?

Best,

Re: Corn development

Early corn here (Michigan/Indiana line) looks poor with the nearly 7 inches of rain for the month of May. Late planted corn is just starting to emerge and looks a little better. I still have corn left to plant. Im hoping to get it in tomorrow.

Re: Corn development

After having the 6th coldest April - We have set the record = number 1 - hottest May in history - rain - hit and miss - my crops ??? Miss !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Started planting corn on May 5th - finished up with everything on May 11th - have had less that a inch by the 1st of June on them - did get about a quarter of a tenth early this morning !  8 miles down the road the other day - they had 1.3 inch's of rain - Southern Shelby County - there trying to finish up as they are rain hogs !

Over all - Corn - great - great stand - damn near a prefect drop - germination was great - corn shot up great and even - I finally applied the 28 - starting on Memorial Day ( wife was very pleased with that : ( )   . as it's been so dry - waiting for a good chance - Sub-Tropical coming our way last week - guess what ? NO RAIN - lol  Applied the Sulfur test plot for Purdue last Tue. Corn just don't look good - like N deficient on high ground - had 30 units applied at planting  = looks like S--t to me - from some of the best looking to ***** in a few weeks - Think that it's from lack of rain  - 28 won't do anything till we get some rain to move it .

Beans for the most part look good - late planted are in trouble - some very ugly fields - beans still like they planted them = have not germinated - or have and died .

Rain hog Blacksand Farmer -- send me down some rain ole buddy and tell your pretty Bribe I said hi - lol

Re: Corn development

Eastern Iowa corn is in various stages of development but generally looks good.
