For uncertified, cost of wheat + $2 + cost of cleaning + cost of treating+ a little profit for the cleaner
I would wag the low buck price Without any real profit to be at least 12 + 2 + 2 + 2 or about $18. This is public variety without royalties. Almost all varieties are protected by the PVPA, even if it isn't patented. If it is patented, like Pioneer & Coker, it's illegal to save and replant, even for yourself.
That would be the price before discounts for early pay, volume discount, or the price that would be paid if you waited till the day you want to plant to buy it. This would be for a 50lb. unit of certified seed. If you're ahead of the game..and can pay early for seed...there are some pretty good discounts, probably up to 5% on wheat..and up to 10% on corn and soybeans (if paid for in August or September of the preceeding year).
