Fertilizing Beans
Ok guys what is you opinion on fertilizing beans.
Last year I only fertilized half my bean acres trying to keep my expenses down, and I still averaged 40 Bu beans.
I am really wondering if it will be worth planting beans next year as corn on corn looks like it will leave me with me with more money in my pocket.
Thanks in advance,
Jared.
Btw I used 160 lbs of DAP and 80 lbs of potash this year on my corn if that helps.

Re: Fertilizing Beans
What kind of yield did you get out of your corn crop? If yield in your corn crop was poor you might get by without replacing soo much P&K for your beans. I dont go overboard with fertilizing beans becuase I farm dryland crops, but I still put out some fertilizer for soybeans, they just seem to be more uniform in the field when fertilized.

Re: Fertilizing Beans
I will be finishing harvest tomorrow and I should average 160 Bu per acre on my corn, 160 is pretty good for my soil especially with a wet year like this. I farm mostly clay timber soils. I definitely agree that the field I fertilized last year yielded better.
