Full Field N Plot Result's

Well - Another season in the books - This is the the 4th year of working with Purdue on N plots - over the years we have tried rates = timing of rates = Split Apps and this year we added a method of apps = My NTB and the Yield 360 Y Drop .

But before I get to the results - I would first like to thank some of the people - organizations that help make this possible !

Indiana Corn Marketing  Council
Dr. Jim Camerator
Dr. Bob Nielsen
Dr. Kiersten Wise
Scott Gabbard
Brandon Kessler
Shelby County Ag Promotion
Shelby County Co-op
Channel Seed
LCM Farms
Terry's Lawn Care

And I sure I left out somebody , and am sorry if I did ! As you can see - there are a lot of players to help bring this reseach to fuit

And now the goodies

Re: Full Field N Plot Result's

Well I just lost my internet  - so will try and continue with this Smiley Happy

In the previous years - The V-3- V-4 sidedress - has been the game in town - That is with 28 - to 30 units applied at planting - then the rest applied with the side dress - We have tried just about every combination of timings there is - some with 3 side dress app's - yet year in and year out - the V- 3 - 4 app has been the most economical  -- For my farm -192 to 200 or so of units on N  total - that is counting the N at planting 2x2

This year we added a method of appling N in this trial - Hagie bar and 360 Y drops - as you can seen in the data -  all app's done with the Hagie N bar were 194 bpa -  So again this year - No difference by spilting apps and rates .

The Y- Drops did show a small gain in bpa on all app's -

I guess my question to Ken is - even at a 5 bpa gain and IF you had to hire the Y-drops to appy the N - then was there really any net gain ?  I can find this out - but hearing that app charge is around 10 bucks an acre for the app - So at 3.60 corn thats 8 dollar gain per acre -  Now to question # 2 - I wonder just how much you lose on the end rows from turning ? As for my Hagie Bar - I just kill them !

Again - Would like to thank everybody for there Help in putting this on !  Big Thanks to the Guys and Gals from Purdue - Great to work with AND I would highly recommend that You other Hoosier farmers check on working with Purdue and do other full field studies ! Its well worth your time - which is not much at all - And it's a lot of fun to do - Beats sitting at the coffee shop ! lol

Have a great day and BE safe !

Ken

Dang - Whats taking SSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOO long - Ken is ready to find out what happened after a season's wait - I think there talking about hav'n' another donut !

BTW - We used a seed tender this year to weight out the first few pass's to set the monitor  - That worked very well !

This is a picture of the fungicide plot - It was partly cloudy that day - I made the turn and this really poped out - it may be hard to pull out of this picture - but if you look at the right side , then the left - you can see almost to the row where the end of the boom was - the corn on the left  had paler leafs - where the right side , the leafs were darker from disease .

Been a fun summer - season with the plots !

4070 ?????????????????   MY friend !   That is just NOT a 4070 -- But a 4070 Transtar II !  1979 model !  With less than 400 thousand on it . 13 speed - 488 rear's - can get 70 out of it - but the ( 400 ) BIG Cam II sounds like it's coming threw the doghouse ! 65 mph is really about the top end -  Had the pump worked on a few years ago down at Greensburg - It came back around 20 % over  - lol  The ole girl sounds great with the straight on her -  But really - that's my personal truck - Have the new Pro Star + - Nice truck - but I jump in the Ole girl - we have been together since 1990 -  So Like the Mrs - Had them both long to get rid of them - lol

Re: Full Field N Plot Result's

The one I had did NOT have power steering. Couldn't do that again. LOL  You need to get some road gears put in that and go out on I-70 and embarrass some big trucks

Re: Full Field N Plot Result's

Rawhide - - Theres a elevator East of Rushville , near Glenwood - Once you get East of Rushville on 44 - it get's rollie - Not big hills - but nice long pulls . I loved running over there - as I would always catch one of them nice -

" Class of " trucks on the grade - I would just pull right up to the back of there trailer and --- ease over to the left alittle - just so he could see me in his mirror - Once in awhile - I would wave at him when he was looking back at me -  THEN when we pulled into the elevator - they would jump out of there truck and here they would come - The first time - I thought - ole Ken was about to get his butt kicked - then as I rolled down the window - they would ask - What in the world do you have in this ? I said - just an old 290 !  every one of them walked back behide the cab and looked - With a smile on there face they would reply - you lieing POS with a big laugh !

A couple of times I would ask them first - What the H do you have in that - I thought I was going to have to drop to the low side to keep from running over yeah  --   lol
