Glyphosate Resistant Kochia?

I think glyphosate resistant kochia has finally arrived in Central Kansas.  I've sprayed wheat stubble twice since harvest with gly., 2,4-D, & Dicamba and seem to get a good kill on everything except the kochia.  Are there any other chemicals that will control this?  I am planning on notilling Milo into this ground next spring.

I don't know what kochia is or how set you are on no tilling.  Sometimes tillage is the best answer  For example the problem here is dandelions in soybeans.  Yes I could spray 2-4-D and RU and Classic.  I have found that discing (to mix the straw in the ground) then field cultivating works good at a far cheaper cost yet just as effective.  The same works with ragweed here although I do that tillage work in the spring when the weeds are emerging, preferably twice, at least a week between passes to get 2 flushes of weeds.

Re: Glyphosate Resistant Kochia?

The notill sorghum works well with my current rotation which is conventional tillage HRW wheat, notill sorghum into standing wheat stubble the following spring, after the sorghum is harvested, my ground in fallow for 10 to 11 months until I conventional till HRW wheat the next fall.  So during this rotation, my ground gets pretty aggressively tilled during the 3 year cycle.  We are located in Central Kansas so the notill sorghum is beneficial to preserve valuable moisture during the hot summer months; this summer was a prime example.  I am also considering the implementation of a cover crop instead of fallowing for an entire year.  I am reletively new at notill practices so I am still gathering information on what will be best for my situation.

You're using the best ones.  Gramoxone is suppose to work, but I haven't tried it.  There is quite a bit of info on the internet, but I didn't see anything striking.  Sounds like you have a challenge.
