Re: Growing marijuana

The way the hemp grows wild in the ditches around here, I would think that hemp could be a viable crop, and I wouldn't be against trying it.

As for the mind-altering version, I think I'll pass.   Too 'rural' here, and if some stoners found my field, only bad things would come of it.

Re: Growing marijuana

It'd be just my luck a bearing would go out on what ever I was using to harvest the stuff and start the whole field on fire.

Re: Growing marijuana

It would take some pretty darn good fence and maybe rifle to get any profit out of it here. I've run some through the chopper a couple times where somebody stuck it a few rows in, in my corn. Boy I bet they were depressed! Wonder if it jacked up the cows whenever I fed the load that it got mixed in 😉

Re: Growing marijuana

I believe hemp was a subsidized crop in the forties.  Needed the fiber for ropes in the war effort.  I think that is where all this wild stuff came from.  Ever try mowing a patch with  a rotary mower?  Worse than runing into a pile of discarded twine.

Re: Growing marijuana/Grass Fed Beef

That`s "Grass Fed Beef".

Working on developing a market in Colorado and Washington (maybe a little behind closed doors in Montana and northern California). Willie Nelson and Woody Harrelson will be the celebrity spokesmen with Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong appealing to the hispanic community. We let Bill Clinton try some but he spit it back out.

Folks will eat some of the beef which might make them a little hungrier so they`ll eat a little more making them even more hungry,,,,,  kinda creating a perpetual demand.

Re: Growing marijuana/Grass Fed Beef

My older siblings had a milk cow, as either a 4-H or FFA project.   One time, they let the cow out into the stackyards, to clean out the grass in there.   A lot of ditchweed (hemp) was growing around there, and the cow ate some of it.   The milk tasted HORRIBLE for a few days after that.

Re: Growing marijuana

I have also been getting PR material on
Hemp. They keep quoting our friends
To the north. How do you harvest?
They claim 300 gallons of oil per acre from
the seed, and then the fiber
How do you cut the seed? How do you
Run 8 foot plants thru the combine
For fiber since so tall would need a
Disc mo-co and then round bale?

They thing that really sticks in my mind tho,
That does the numbers look like?
Is it profitable?
