Harvest started on eastern shore of Maryland
My brother sent picture of corn harvested south of Easton. He thinks it's a normal time to get started over there. I posted a few weeks ago that when I visited him I thought it looked pretty good in that part of the country.
Btw; longcreek tore my knee up training for my bike trip near your area. Thanks for the info anyway. Maybe get healed up enough to do it next year.

Re: Harvest started on eastern shore of Maryland
Well hell Buck. As long as its good enough to climb up in the combine! I cleaned up my last 7 loads of 2012 corn last week. Standing around waiting in line talking to truck drivers, found out they are shelling new corn south and east of Richmond, va on the sandy soil. Just scrubbed some off the Cobb by hand yesterday at 33%. No need to wash the windows on her just yet 😉
Hope the knee heals up quick and right.

Does any of your grain end up going to the chickens over that way.

Mostly drag it about an hour south of me. Harrisonburg, va. Chicken houses on every hill in that part of the state. Actually got run off on my last load from Cargill's last week. Told me not to come back until I learned how to load a trailer a Little closer to legal!!

Re: Harvest started on eastern shore of Maryland--yes very true far E corn belt.
Maryland, Delaware, and just south have very good soils, very good clime and have fairly consistant yields. They are in the heart of Purdue and other poultry producyion and his toricall have had VG basis vs eve OH IN.
Pa produeces quite a bit of corn, but maybe near deficit, big in hog, egg, and dairy. But again historically Jan on, corn neess to be drawn east from OH maybe Kentucky. Now is about right for harvest and will move north.
Endusers have to be THRILLED, 4.50 vs 7-8 of last yr .
