Hay progress

In spite of a late start, a lot of hay got put up in the weather break we had recently.  Mine is not part of it.  I just have waterways and headlands  to do, but will have to wait till it dries a little.  Maybe Sunday?  Some of the grass is getting a little rank.  With the delay in starting, the rest of the haying season is also delayed.  And, if it turns off dry later, this could end up being a short hay season.

Re: Hay progress

No hay done here at all but the alfalfa isn't in bloom yet.  The grass has been in seed stage for weeks though.

Re: Hay progress

Excellent haying weather in Mid-Western Ontario for the past 10 days. We have got over 300 acres wrapped and in the barn. Rain coming tonight. It is getting very dry here now, even after all the rain we got earlier.

Re: Hay progress

We've had a week of rain and sun now. Looks like excellent haying weather coming up after today.

Re: Hay progress

Should have second done by Sat. night. most of what is left is going to be sold some really nice stuff yield was good to.  Gonna round up about 20 acres today and chop about 15. also do a load of small squares.  Tomorrow more rounds and another couple loads of small squares.  No leaf hoppers in it either so all in all a very nice crop. on pace for a five cutting year here in NCIA.

Man it has been a busy week tho!

Re: Hay progress

Whacking hay down like crazy again. We like to cut 50 acres a day. Run 2 small square balers and 1 round baler. Got to make hay when the sun shines. Where are you from? Would love to live where we could get 5 cuts off. Here in Mid-Western Ontario, we only take off 2 cuts.  Have fun out in the field.
