Honey Bees And Neonics

There has been considerable controversy over the effect of neonicitinoids on the health of honey bee populations.  Studies in Europe seem to show that where the bees have access to a wide range of flowers and have relatively fewer parasites, neonics have little effect.  Where bees must forage on neonic crops and have parasites, those exposed to neonics don't do so well.

Another study indicates that neonics are in ground water and are taken up by wild plants, thus some bees are exposed to neonics even where there are no seed treated plants around.

The studies are not conclusive and are ongoing,  Looks like the debate over the effect of neonics on honey bees and the potential for restriction of neonic use will continue.
