How's your subsoil moisture?

Just saw a report from ISU showing subsoil moisture's way down in northwest Iowa -- all the way down to 1.4 inches in some spots.

Have you checked out your subsoil moisture since harvest? How's it looking? The way things look right now, think you'll have a deficiency going into spring?

Re: How's your subsoil moisture?

We had about average moisture this fall, but a dry late summer.  If things go like they have this fall, we will be about average.  Even if not, we should have sufficient moisture this spring to get the crops started.

In ncia we are extremely dry, but it is not really concerning many. One of the few constants in farming here is "it rains in iowa in the springtime". Judging by the amount of tile we all buried, we must still be planning on normal rainfall. Winter is a great time for a drought. In my estimation.
