Input Cost and Land Rent

A neighbor stopped and said he was going to rent his ground out and wondered if I was interested. I am interested but i need to know if it is worth it to rent. The farm in Ohio is good, and in the past has produced good crops. So my question is what does it cost to raise an acre of corn or beans on average. Not including rent, harvesting and planting. From what I've figued I couldn't pay what some of these guys are, but the farm is close and I would like to farm it.

I dont see how a farmer can operate without knowing what their imputs are.  U must not farm much but ull learn fast if u cant afford it.

Re: Input Cost and Land Rent

My question wasn't if I knew what I was doing or not, I wanted to know what it cost the average guy to raise an acre. Like I said from what I have figured it isn't worth it to pay a huge amount just so someone else dosen't get it. Maybe it's just me, but if I want to sit on my tractor all day, I'll do it in the barn where it's free.  I've been a livestock farmer for years and was considering expanding.
