Installing some tile this fall?

Heard yesterday that drainage tile is in really short supply this fall -- sounds like a lot of folks are spending their time this fall putting in new lines. One retailer told me they've got a 25-day waiting list to get more line from their supplier.

Here's more on the tile shortage situation

Anybody trying to put in new tile this fall and not able to because of scarce supplies?

Have been hearing the same thing. we have 6 rolls and sounds like a three week wait for more. no telling when winter will come, either.

We just got some tile installed this fall. The guy installing the tile said he has never been so busy, he said he dont even like to answer his phone because he dont want to turn future jobs down.

Actually Blacksand, He doesn't want to answer the phone because the callers are people he promised that he would be at their place 3 weeks ago.

All tilers are congenital liars. It might be a blanket statement but it holds true so far.   In my opinion.

I'm not sure about the liar statement but I'll take your word on it and I'd like to add something.  Don't tell a tiler anything you don't want the whole community to know.  Since they go from farm to farm they have the "scoop" on everybody.

Just wondering about how folks are expensing the tile - 179 one time or depreciating over several years?

179.  I'm too old to depreciate.

The only way to get tiling done in this neighborhood is to plant winter wheat and forget about double cropping beans.  Tilers are easier to find and they'll tile a little cheaper when they're not busy.

Went flying Tuesday and noticed a lot of tiling being done, most of it pattern tiling.  This is around Iowa City - Washington - Muscatine area.
