Iowa Corn Photos
I passed a field show, while coming to work, Friday. What sticks out is how long the ears are and how much grain-fill there is on all of the ears. To give credit where credit is due, this was Beck's seed. The corn appeared to be in the dent stage. The field is located 30 miles south of Des Moines. Take note, the water bottle was a 36-oz bottle, a big one.
Do you have a photo of your neighborhood crops?

Did you see the photo I put up yesterday?
If I'd pulled shucks back in several of my fields it'd look just like that... Prairie brand here.$55 acre seed cost

Re: Iowa Corn Photos
Hobby,
Let me take a look. Your photo and these were probably of crops that are along the same latitude. 🙂

The two big ones were 20 around , one 18 , one 16....gotta love refuge in a bag. 25,000 stand, you count the length.

Re: Iowa Corn Photos
ECIN,
I'll do one better. I'll get the test weight, when the combine rolls through this field. I'll also stop again and check rows around and ear count, and plant pop.

Re: Iowa Corn Photos
Mike; the correct unit of measurement is a Bush Lite can not a water bottle. Checking the outside rows is for rookies. Go in the field 800 feet.

Re: Iowa Corn Photos
What is the number of rows to use on a yield check on this ear?
Butt of the ear is 20 halfway up the ear it dropped 4 rows, use 18?
It is now in almost full dent, what a difference in a week.
