MN crop tour with the Hagie
I'm sure we can all agree this corn looks great, front view...
...back view...
...here are three random cobs pulled from under the machine at this spot...
...I think I'll keep my yield estimate at 140. The poorly pollinated one was quite a surprise, and quite concerning to say the least. I was also very surprised at how immature the corn was when I got further into the field, by the road there is alot more color. This is a 97 day Pioneer number planted May 14th.

Re: MN crop tour with the Hagie
I'm straight west of Mpls. MN. Plenty of N, the immature corn is the reality were dealing with here in MN. this year. Crop is really varible this year, came up super uneven, some fields it took three weeks for all of it to emerge, fifty feet away it may be dented. Setting the combine this fall will be a challenge.

Re: MN crop tour with the Hagie
Day two of the crop tour finds us West of the "crick" in the next county on a no-tilled, second year out of 30 year CRP field. Heat index is 101 degrees F, and were almost out of 2-4D.
Can you tell which corn is the $300.00/bag drought resistent number?
Can you tell which one is going to yield more?
That's OK, niether can I...it's the one on the right. Both were planted on 6-3-13, both Pioneer numbers, the drought corn is a 101 day, the other is a 97. I know everybody is tired of looking at poor fields, the whole field isn't poor...
...just highly variable is all.
Tried to PP the remaining 15 acres...
...they wouldn't let me, told me I should have at least got dirty hoe, and the grubbed trees out of the field, told them that's what prevented me from planting it, still wouldn't let me...jerks!
Same field last year Sept 7th, 51 bu beans. People are too quick to write off beans IMO, these suckers were dead twice last year. What a difference a year makes, can't wait to see what next year brings! That's why I love this farming game! 🙂 Oh yea whole farm average on corn, 140, beans 50.

Re: MN crop tour with the Hagie
"Smell of victory", that's funny. Poor little guys, all they wanted to do was raise a stink bug family.
What's wrong with the beans? Only gonna make 80 bushel rather than 100? Your beans are taller than my corn on that highly productive CRP piece!...whiner! 🙂
