Monsanto/Syngenta deal--impact on input buying

All,

There's been quite a bit of chatter on the web and even on our site about an attempt by Monsanto to buy Syngenta. Here's the story my co-worker, Jeff Caldwell, wrote up on it.

Any thoughts on what this could mean--if anything--to buying seed, chemicals, etc? from a newly combined Monsanto/Syngenta?

Hard to see even the current emasculated department of justice letting this merger go forward without the seed part of Syngenta being spun off to keep the big three seed suppliers apart and a monopoly from taking over.

My two cents says that the deal never happens.
