New crop hay
Finally cut some....all first crop will go to horses. In 47 years of farming , this is absolute latest I have cut 1st crop ! Got the field cut and got wet in the mile and half back to the ranch. On the plus side , did not tear up the field , and as soom as I got wet [ open tractor] , the rain stopped. When will it stop raining on my parade ???? John

Re: New crop hay
Are you in Wisconsin? How heavy was your yield? A very good 1st crop yield for wcpa in fully headed mixed dry hay is 3 tons/ acre. This year with little rain we averaged about 1 ton and finished a week ago. Now on thursday we had 1/2 inch here but next county north had as much as 13 inches (not a misprint) on that day. Maybe it made the news there.

Re: New crop hay
ono : Yield wise hay looks pretty good when cutting......quality..it will be sold for horses if we get a couple more days sun..forecast looks good ! Will know tomorrow...will start baling late.
Cent. Wi. Clark Co. Have had rain up the butt here this Spring. Many acres worked first time this Spring or Summer , whatever this is, acres willgo to possibly corn silage , beans for grain or forage, or alfalfa seeded for next year with hopefully a cutting late August. These acres are being worked first time TODAY July 1......We have lost45 to 60 days of the growing season plus one cutting of hay !
