Palmer amaranth in Iowa

Palmer amaranth has been found in Harrison county north of Council Bluffs, IA.

I don't think I greet this news with joy.

Is that why they call it pig weed. Was it once fed to pigs.

she wouldn't be smiling if she knew what I do.  pig weeds and marestail has made round up worthless down here.  liberty is not to hot either.  ultra blazer  or flexstar about  the only thing that works in beans.   you folks have no rice in your rotations to control them, you have a huge problem coming your way.  yes atrazine and D will beat them back in spring but the escapes will make seed and there starts the problem

Marestale was part of the reason I've added wheat in my rotation. I'm even thinking of adding more hay also. Just trying to get a few different possibilities to control.
