Permit for Corn???
I have some knee high corn that I need to spray with Roundup and a residual...I would usually use atrazine 4L but I have read you cant apply when corn is over 12 inches or can you? I read Permit can be an alternative to Atrazine and I am wondering about using that?

Re: Permit for Corn???
At the risk of irritating the folks who write our pesticide laws...Atrazine has been sprayed on corn until it tassels..and I don't think anyone has ever injured any corn with it. The reason there is a 12" heighth limit..is because the powers that be are afraid of too much atrazine getting into our rivers and streams..because it hasn't had enough time to break down in the soils of our fields before winter. That's why there is a June 1st limit to how late you can apply it. The absolute best control method for wild cucumber in corn..used to be a 1/3 pint of Dicamba and a pound of atrazine sprayed with drops when the corn was almost tasseled...you could really clean up a bottomland that was infested with cucumber with that application. Sadly, those days are gone...and now we have to come up with other, less effective means of control.

Re: Permit for Corn???
You can check the atrazine label for specific restrictions. Some of the restrictions might have to do with carry-over. I didn't see any 12" restriction, but iddn't read the label caarefully.
