Re: Planting is happening Pics
Nice pic Jr, seems like there is a farmer in every other field here. Both corn and beans are being planted at a frantic pace. The 10 day forecast is looking bleak once again.

Whjat di d yo go with for spray jim? I am thinking I may end up changing again with this cold weather. I had 24D in the original mix (helps to kill ole alfalfa) but with these cool temps I do not want to risk injury. Have to get at that pretty soon. May go back to corvus.

Yep lots of planters going around here. I haven't heard of any beans goin inyet. I have one field of beans to plant this year 25 acres. But I will not plantt them for a couple more weeks as I ned to have somewhere to go with the manure for a while yet.

JR,
Like you're thinking, I avoided 2,4-D because of the cold, wet season and the fear that there could be some crop damage if I pushed the planting time. I went with Corvus and glyphosate. Added some COC and a water pH buffer plus a pound of atrazine.

Re: Planting is happening Pics
I see those markers on your planter and it reminds me of a story. This year, I was riding along with a farmer that was planting corn with all of the bells and whistles in his cab. At one point, his GPS went out affecting his auto-steer. He laughed and said, "I actually have to drive this tractor now. And it's a good thing I opted to have a marker on my planter, otherwise I woud be counting rows all day."
Apparently, because of the extra costs, some guys are opting to not have markers on planters that will be pulled by the latest technology. But, like in this case, when the 'lead singer' loses his voice, the back-up singers have to step in. Anyway, good photo. Is that you in the cab or are you taking the photo?
Good luck this year,
Mike

That is me in the cab my son took the photo. Yea technology is great until it isn't! Neighbor here waited two days to Field cultivate casue the auto steer on the new tractor wasn't working! LOL I finished planting till I take off some hay to go to silage but He is just getting a good start. My 36 year old tractor and 20 year old planter got her done tho!
