Shaggy's cover crops
Good article in "The Firrow" (I know it's not your brand) about cover crops in your area. It's not real clear on any conclusions and has some contradicting results. Still probably worth the time to read it. Sorry I don't know how to post links on here. Maybe you can bribe a neighbor with green equipment out of his issue when he is done reading it.

Re: Shaggy's cover crops
Buck, I read the article on the JD website. I've actually talked to Mr. Berns several times about cover crops last season, but I was scared to death about the severe drought in this area. He has vast knowledge and a compassion about cover crops that are second to none.
FWIW, I've got a young producer that attends the same church as I do and he is an avid cover crop believer. Kinda funny, just this past Sunday he and I had about a 45 minute conversation while our wives taught Sunday School that almost mimicked this article. Where he had cover crops seeded last year, his milo crop yielded 20-25 BPA less then milo seeded into fallow ground.
Personally, I believe cover crops have a place in production Ag, but with the drought we suffered last year, all rules get thrown out the window.
