Soybean aphid insecticide effectiveness

All,

I was at a meeting last month and visited between sessions with a crop consultant from southern Minnesota. He told me in his area that he thought insecticides were losing effectivness when being sprayed on soybean aphids last summer.

I haven't really studied this. But if you were in an area where soybean aphids were a problem this year, what's your take on if the insecticide was effective for treatment?

Thanks,

Re: Soybean aphid insecticide effectiveness

I`ve always had good luck with a pt of Lorsban and I have to spray aphids every year.  lorban doesn`t have a long residual and one year I had to spray twice.  I thought it has been high priced though $4/acre.  Tried a product called Alpine for about $1.50/acre and it knocked em dead...it`s always nice to get done spraying them devils and watch em draw their last breath as you finish and leave the field  Smiley Happy

Oh, good, glad this is working for you. In prime soybean aphid years they can really raise havoc with yields.
