Soybeans - off-patent Roundup Ready variety released by Arkansas
SEE> http://agfax.com/2014/12/03/arkansas-look-ma-no-tech-fees-round-up-ready-soybean-variety-released/
Any other states working on Roundup Ready beans now that early patent expired? No sure it matters much where resistance is a huge issue.

Heard this a few days ago. Hope the university of MO or someone is working on some group 3 and 4 beans. 5.4 maturity is a little too long for my area. Patrick

Re: Soybeans - off-patent Roundup Ready variety released by Arkansas
If the older technology (RR1) is employed in a competetively producing variety, with a suitable maturity rating, disease resistance, etc., then absolutely yes. This is because we're not exactly using the newer technology (RR2) to kill anything that the older technology (RR1) didn't also take care of, due to weed resistance. We're paying more for the newer technology because that is all that is offered, and then still spending more on chemicals due to weed resistance. The older technology (RR1) still works fine on the grasses, at least in this area.
