how about them pioneer folk.
2 years ago, the pioneer corn, for us, was crap. Top yeid was 145 bu/ac. The next year, they came out of the whole, the year we were combining in the snow, producing 200+ bu/ac. This year, the corn came out of the ground in a week! Thats wonderful. Who doing good, or bad, for you?

Re: how about them pioneer folk.
I planted all Pioneer this year. Last year my Pioneer beans yielded very well, so I figured I would try their corn this year. I planted Dekalb corn before and said I would keep using it, but Monsanto raised prices more than anybody else last year so I went shopping for something different.

Re: how about them pioneer folk.
In our area Pioneer used to be king, but on shorter day corns they sat back on their laurels and have been getting the crap kicked out of em by DeKalb. Pioneer rep has given us 5-10 bags last 3 years trying to find a variety we like. I've scattered them out amongst our Dekalb and the closet Pioneer got was 5 under dekalb and the majority of the yield differnce we have seen on our farm has been a +15-25 bu/acre over 3 years. So even with higher seed costs, even though I'm not happy about it, the Dekalb is paying off big time.
