Re: 6-27-2013 Storm damage
My son and his family just came home this evening to PA from Wichita for a week's visit. As they were leaving home yesterday they got word from that side of the family that their house was pretty much totaled by an oak tree in the back yard. Same straight line winds. Lots of damage all over the city.

Re: 6-27-2013 Storm damage
Lots of this type of wind damage this year so far. We lost one run-in shed in January, I think it was. Our rental house down east in NC had roof damage a couple of weeks ago, and we are pretty constantly having to ask son to drive through the farm, and assess the ones in Va.
I was getting severe storm warning Weathercalls or reverse 911 calls from two states at the same time yesterday afternoon. Several bands of storms; and, thus, several spates of calls. We have no landline phone at the offic and house this morning...but the hog farm on the smae pedestal has service, so we have a diagnostic to do later today. It's always something.
BTW, I would say those folks look mostly lucky to me...trees and limbs seem to have landed away from structures.

Re: 6-27-2013 Storm damage
What always amazes Mike and me is the Carolinians who can stand and talk to reporters about family members and friends who have just passed in tragic ways. We never saw that in Virginia. It is the exceptional family here that will say they need their privacy. Guess. Have spent too much time south of the state line...please forgive.
