A challenge for you ethanol guys

I don't know how widespread this is but I was in OKC the other day and it was interesting to see fuel prices. Many stations advertise that they are selling "pure" or "100% gasoline. Now the interesting part is that E-10 was priced at around $2.30 per gallon, while the "pure" stuff was $.35-.40 higher, roughly 15%. So in effect consumers would get the ethanol AND some of the gas FREE compared to buying 100% gas. How's that for "value added products"? You ethanol groups and commodity groups need to quit whining about the EPA, RFS, the blend wall and all that and get some advertising campaigns going to PROMOTE the VALUE of ethanol blends to the consumer instead of letting it be portrayed as an inferior product that is out there just because of gov "welfare" for farmers. Isn't that what the check off $$$ are for?? Ok now it's your turn. What does everyone think of this?

I'm surprised they even offered the ethanol option. OK is a pro-oil state. In Alva, I asked why they did not give an ethanol option, the employee glared at me as if I had used a four letter word. So, be grateful you could choose your political choices.

Re: A challenge for you ethanol guys

Recently had a dmallengine shop tell me to avoid ethanol blends, as they dissolve fuel hoses and priming bulbs on trimmers. I was told to buy " recreational gasoline" or 100% with no ethanol.

We have discussed the mpg differences before.

Consumers vote with their pocketbooks.

Re: A challenge for you ethanol guys

I have run E-10 in my small engines for years with out issues - scape goat for engine guys making those statements - oh well - acutally have E-30 in all my vehicles including my  V-10 97 Ram - 64,000 on it --- To bad for the mis-informed folks --- Wonder if they would take the label'' off '' like they want to on USA meat products only the price would matter then ?

Re: A challenge for you ethanol guys

Yes Clay in tulsa there are some stations that advertise that they only sell pure gasoline. As a rule they don't have a dozen or more pumps and a convenience store. All the big chains sell ethanol and many of them E 85.

We don't drive many miles anymore so it doesn't matter what we pay for gas.  I do use ethanol unless I'm pulling a trailer.

I have bought   E - 85  at  H E B grocery in Austin - San Antonio for the suburuban - seems like 10 - 15%  light on milage although I like the idea of using my domestic fuel investment ---

Yes, you know that business of "don`t run ethanol in your chainsaw!!!" I think is a bunch of baloney.  The small engine shops use that as an excuse to put on more parts and why it takes them 3 weeks to repair your $200 weed whacker and then present you with a $180 bill.

Re: A challenge for you ethanol guys

The primer bulb and fuel line had bsically turned to goo...I will thirw away a weed whacker before I evervrepair another one. Never recall that happening, before ethanol, though....

Re: A challenge for you ethanol guys

Well, the danged things are junk anymore, you gotta prime them 6X and pull the rope 5X with full choke and then only then "pull to start"...they`re a bunch of crap with all that emissions junk on it. I remember the good old days when a chainsaw started on the first and if not second pull. They smoked, but by God they ran and ran for years.
