Behind coal powered Tesla`s Profits

Regulatory credits paid by other automakers.  Must be similar to the hyped up "carbon credits" that farmers could/can get with cover crops, no-til ect. Except Musky gets more than a few bucks an acre.

UPDATE 7/22/2020: Tesla reported that it had earned $428 million in regulatory credits during the second quarter of this year, besting the $354 million posted last quarter.

Amid a difficult economic environment, Tesla eked out a profit last quarter, the company’s third successive quarter in the green. The revenue stream that helped the electric vehicle maker get there: regulatory credits. Tesla earned $354 million from these credits this past quarter, a record for the company and a 64 percent increase as compared to the year prior, according to Tesla’s earnings report.
