FCC safeguards GPS
The FCC is finally arriving at the conclusion, based on lengthy testing, that the LightSquared 4G network can not coexist without destroying the existing GPS network. It's about time. The FCC let this camel get it's nose under the tent. It was a concept that would have let some investment bankers make millions. Public outcry, led by the aviation industry and joined by agriculture, has forced the FCC to permit the kind of testing that shows the scheme won't work. Congress was beginning to get in the act. Pilots and farmers along with many others who rely on accurate and dependable GPS signals may be able to breath a little earlier.
