Re: Farm Debt Increasing

More; IMG_2063.JPGNotice the rise in farm sector debt.  It is approaching the highs reached in the farm crisis in the 80s.  Interest expenses are ticking upward.  Still overall, not entirely alarming, but something to watch.

Re: Farm Debt Increasing

More; I don't know about you, but agriculture has taken a much bigger hit in relation to the general economy.  It's impact is already greater than the 80s farm crisis and 20 percent interest rates.  Looking as far back as 1960, the farm economy has had a few bumps along the road, but this latest hit is more like falling off the ledge.

Re: Farm Debt Increasing

More; Above agriculture, only three other industries have greater potential for automation than agriculture.  Manufacturing is second in line for potential automation.  This, a resulting outcome to demands for efficiencies in a capitalistic society which values freedom of operation in every aspect of life.  Are any of us willing to suggest we legislate demands for increasing labor costs and socializing industry?  Hmmmmmm.  MAGA, anyone?IMG_2092.JPG

Re: Farm Debt Increasing

More; Note the high flying years following the recession in 2008 were quite brief, considering the long run from 1984 to 2002.  And look how far we have dropped in this latest crash.  I don't know about you, but this earlier sustained net income of those years is something I could get used to.  By the way, we began the recovery from the Russian grain embargo of the Carter years just prior to this, and it has taken this type of economy to rebuild lost markets of that era and it had much potential for additional success.

IMG_2108.JPGThis;  Even when (if) we sign a trade deal with China, this continues.  Trump has not even bothered to get us back into this agreement.

IMG_2110.JPGOh, and this.  China impact on trade.  An agreement today will not mean we fully recover from the losses overnight.
