Fun fact, while we wait for whatever....

A state legislator used this not long ago after the CR vote failed;

Fun fact: #Shutdown2018 will be the first Government shutdown in US history to occur when one party controls both houses of Congress and the Presidency.

So, never put yourself in a difficult position, as a majority party, like they have, without being willing to negotiate a deal with the minority.

God help us all if they don’t get it when the farm bill comes up for debate.

Re: Fun fact, while we wait for whatever....

The cry baby Chuck & Nancy party is tying the 24yr old, pimply faced, daca "kids" (that have 25% unemployment btw) with continuing resolution of keeping the government going.  What does DACA and making the US military payroll have to do with one another???  It`s really "interesting" (dollar to K-289) how a government shutdown only effects certain government employees and services and not others, to my thinking, those that need punished in a shutdown, don`t even feel it.

But there you go, the fake media says "Republicans shut the government down" while completely ignoring that it takes 60 senators to pass a CR...yes, an establishment so ignorant or partisanly corrupt should have their press credentials yanked, stalin schmallin.

Keep believing your InfoWars propaganda. DACA legislation was a bipartisan agreement that the president promised he would sign. He reneged. He lied. Even the R's said there is chaos in the WH and nobody can rely on anything there. The D's called Trump out on it and said, no DACA, no CR.

What does DACA directly have to do with the funding of the government?   They are apples and oranges, if there ever was apples & oranges.   The case can however be made that DACA and the wall and chain immigration are part of a comprehensive immigration reform ...that is apple & apples.

Re: Fun fact, while we wait for whatever....

Trump said many times he supported a bipartisan solution to DACA. He put it on the table as a way forward. Even most R's supported it. Graham supported it. It was to have been completed before the CR was discussed. All agreed to clean bills. Even the CR. Trump backed away from it. One way to remind liars of their promised is to hold them to their promises. That's politics and how sausage is made.

You do know that Schumer is a crooked basterd?  Like I told the Libs on the forum page, did Schumer agree to a 2` wall with stepladders?   The Dems are going to have to do the calculations to hold most of the country hostage to appease < 1 million "dreamers" and explain to voters in November (how did new senator Dem Doug Jones vote?)  or at least not mess with the military`s pay checks.   CNN and NPR could do some real boo-hoo stories about military families scraping to make ends meet if the Schumer shutdown lasts and if they had any journalistic integrity.

Capital Press on AG  Web has an interesting piece on this issue, concerning D A C A , detailing several view points concerning the displacement of ag workforce ---

''''CHEAP''' available labor is the forerunner of a complication in agriculture consolidation on several fronts, and one can toss around blame this - blame that if it make one feel better---

Cheap along with the word '' exempt '' equates to the expression of  ''lacquered into a corner '' - so being surprised at a quick resolution is fairly amusing unless an operation is short handed in the labor department---

Fake News jingle seems to be loosing a little luster and might soon be added to the ''' feeding the world '' mime shelf ---

Re: Fun fact, while we wait for whatever....

BA, DACA was on the agenda prior to completing the CR.  Mr. Trump himself promised to sign a bipartisan bill sent to his desk.  He said it several times.  Lindsay and his Democrat counterparts came up with a bipartisan approach to address DACA, and the meeting at the White House was to complete the details with Mr. Trump.  His subsequent comments about Shi##hole countries and change of mind derailed the agreement right there.

Hence, since Trump was not true to his word, the Democrats went to plan B. They said, no DACA bill, no CR.  McConnell, knowing though he had majority in both houses and the White House, refused to budge to get the super majority needed to pass the CR debate and to vote on it.

The onus is on Trump.  He lied.  He reneged.

It is a colossal strategic failure to not use political deal making, called a compromise.  The Republicans had it in their power to do the right thing, and did not.

Political work is often likened to making sausage.  You throw in a little of this and a little of that, and you finally have sausage.  A no-brainer.  But you can't fix stupid.
