Get your T-shirts, 33 cents!

There`s a Chinese company going to set up a factory in Arkansas, 300 robots, 23 million t-shirt production at 33 cents each and they will have the "Made in the USA" tag.   Here`s a link to the Bloomberg story, but you hit a paywall if you don`t have a subscription.

But 33 cents a piece production cost...you can`t buy a can of pop for that!  It`s kind of funny, the textile industry went to China 30yrs ago and we lost jobs, now ironically it comes back, with 300 robots as employees.

Re: Get your T-shirts, 33 cents!

Hey, guys. In my opinion, the main problem now is not the price of T-shirts, and in general clothing, but it's quality. Recently, textile factories have started to produce clothing at a high price, BUT very low quality. I would be willing to buy expensive clothes, but with the confidence that my skin will be fine, and the thing itself will not spoil in 2 weeks. I work as a referee, and I always have to buy referee shirts detroit , but my skin does not breathe, I get red spots after matches. So I want to encourage all brands not to skimp on quality.

Interesting as to who they say developed the technology and where some of the funding came from.

And a Chinese company uses it and locates the factory in Little Rock with "friendly" terms.

Wonder who owns this Chinese company?

More digging required.

How far to the nearest Walmart distribution facility?

Article is dated August, 2017.

Re: Get your T-shirts, 33 cents!

Tianyuan Garments Company is part of Suzhou Industrial Park Tianyuan Garments Co Ltd, which is owned 35% by Singapore and 65% by China.  The software/automation was purchased from a Georgia company -- Sewbot–SoftWear Automation’s clothes-making robot–was developed at Georgia Tech’s Advanced Technology Development Center in a process that began a decade ago. In 2012, researchers got a grant from the Defense Department’s tech innovation wing DARPA to develop the concept and formed a company to commercialize the technology.  Of course, operating the plant in Arkansas allows Walmart (and whoever) to sport the "Made in USA" label on these products, even though the company is majority-owned by China.

Re: Get your T-shirts, 33 cents!

Who knows if this production has started its work? I recently read this article https://www.printful.com/start-online-tshirt-business and I decided that I want to open my own business to create T-shirts, but for this I need a reliable supplier of clean T-shirts (ie without inscriptions or something like that). If the quality of these T-shirts is really good, then I think it would be a good idea to use them in the first stages of building my business, since it is really very cheap material that can serve as the basis for a really cool T-shirt. Due to the fact that this base is very cheap, the final result can also be much lower in price.

Well our new president is doing all he can to drive up the cost of those shirts.   I doubt that 33cents is anywhere close to costs today... 4 years later.

Wow, this is really very interesting. These are the cheapest t-shirts possible. It seems to me that such products would be of poor quality. Although, I use exclusively business clothing. I work as a consultant in a big company, so I can't afford to dress otherwise. I order clothes at https://www.wear-london.co.uk/. It's a very well-known brand. Things this company is trendy, as well as their quality at a high level. The most beautiful thing is the prices of their products! For such things, they are cosmically low!
