A few years ago I rented my pasture land out when I got out of the cattle business. I knew who I wanted to have it based on their integrity and work ethic. I have never once regretted or second guessed that decision. It has worked out great.
Out of the farmers you are considering renting it to is there one who, in you mind, stands above the others for whatever reason? Is there one you would trust more than the others to do things as you want them done?
The biggest factor for me would be this. If I were to pass away who would I trust to treat my wife right in future dealings and give her the best advice when making decisions regarding the farm. Might be good to discuss this with your wife as she might have some good input assuming she knows those under consideration.
