  Yes coons are awful when they get a foothold on a place.  I used to store a few round hay bales in all steel machinery shed in case severe weather made it difficult to get to where they sit outside.   The coons got in them something awful so I moved them out and this was in late summer, early fall.  I saw something unbelievable that I wouldn't believe if I didn't see it myself.  I saw a coon shiiny up a steel support, straight up.  By the looks on peoples faces I tell this to I can tell they don't believe me. LOL  But it's the gospel truth.

  The pheasants went away with the disappearance of animal ag and hay here.  But turkeys and deer came in.  Interesting...

Pheasants are an invasive species.  We tend to forget that.  Maybe they aren't adapting so well?  🙂  Well, that was a joke, but when I was a kid, we had prairie chickens and I haven't seen one here for 60 years.  Same with jack rabbits for 50 years.  Same wtih quail for probably 40 years.  We still see the occassional fox, but they are rare.  In came deer and coyotes.  We have turkeys around us but not on our farm.  Those changes preceded glyphosate.

Cropping has changed with the decline of animal agriculture.  Most interior fences are being pulled out.  Ditches are being pushed in and nearly all water ways are now mowed and baled.  Habitat is significantly declining, but I don't blame glyphosate.  It would be the same if we cultivated or used some other herbicide.

So, where is the 1% glyphosate drift coming from?  I'd like to see the specs on how much of it is house yard misuse.  Homeowners are notoriously bad about excessive use of herbicides.

Coons will eat pheasant eggs if they can find the nest.  If there are enough coons, it is almost certain.

Turkey and deer are native spieces---pheasant isn't ---so a dramitic shift in habitat curtails it's survival  --

Homeowneers, and golf courses.

I know of homeowners who just 'use up' the container of pesticide they bought, so they don't have to store it around kids. 
If I sprayed my corn as many times as the golf course sprays, the EPA would probably assign an agent, just to watch me.

As far as prarie chickens, plenty of them here, Jack Rabbits are around, but not as common as cottontails.  Quail are around here and there.  Turkeys are taking over everything.

  Until about 10 years ago I never saw a wild turkey.  30 years ago just seeing a deer track was something to tell people about.

Belarus---I think you have pretty well summed it up on every front---the 1% part is probably an industry number with all of the spraying done in high gusty wind the 1% has to be misleading---

A spray rig going through the field with 90 ft. booms with a 30 mph side wind pretty much explains it ---don't like it and never will ---when the spay guy shows up and says he has 20 jobs awaiting after mine what is the alternative---a professor gentleman by the name of  Dr. Huber from Purdue has some eyebrow raising info on all of this glysofate product that might be of interest---as far as monoculture affecting wildlife -the posts on this one pretty well sum it up ---

I've seen 3 roosters in 1 field I've combined. The birds looked awful pretty against the golden cornstalks. Here in NC Iowa we havn't had alot of pheasants for 5 years. On a side note will start putting down smoke tommorrow. Guys that are going say its sealing well
