Re: LP supply and prices

Too be honest, I don't know.  I buy ahead for the year each August and am locked in for XX gallons, which always more than lasts me thorugh the winter.  If I have to, I'll pull some out of the grain dryer tanks.

I suspect most farmers lock in LP in the fall around here.

Re: LP supply and prices

Yes Jim most farmers here contract for heat,  local suoolier that was at $2.65 is now $ 2.98, we are in North Central Iowa, the transports are going to Kansas City to get LP and there are allocations at all of the terminals. Even if have contract will the supplier have product when I need it?

Re: LP supply and prices

Would be interesting to find out the supply level in the cavern's in Kansas --- Two years ago they where bringing product down from North Dakota to our supplier here to relieve the glut ---these continuous north - northwest winds every other day have been quite a game changer ---

Re: LP supply and prices

Heating prices like that are orobably a good part of why your tenant left. We had an idiot last year who kept breaking stuff in the rental house, so we would let him out of a year's lease.

He didn't start to complain until they got past the fall neutral season ( not needing either heat or AC) , then, it was something every time we turned around. The dummy didn't realize we would have been glad to have the agent release him.

Hope you didn't get stuck too badly.

Re: LP supply and prices

Jim, how do you pull the fuel out of your LP tanks to move elsewhere? We have a 250- gallon tank we need to empty, and getting the gas company to do it is almost as bad as just buying gas for the other tank. Do you have a portable tank and pump? I have been saying that we need to get such a setup here.

Re: LP supply and prices

You guys made our local news in NC for LP and natural gas prices and shortages today. Forty below sounds bad!

Stay safe, everyone!

Re: LP supply and prices

I'd have the local supplier do it for me, and if they couldn't I have one tank with a valve on it.  I'd have to hook up a portable and simply let it cross-level.  that would be inefficient and no fun but better thanb beng out of gas.

Re: LP supply and prices

Just wonder if there is an efficent and not too expensive pumping system.  Our tanks are close enough to hook up some hoses ot make it move, but I wouldn't want the main one, which powers the generator, to fall below a certain level to allow the stranded tank to fill to it that way.
