Losing Rural Banks?
I see a piece in the Wall Street Journal about quite a reduction in the number of rural bank branches in small towns. The claim is it's drying up lending opportunities for small businesses. As banks consolidate, they increasingly use algorithms instead of character evaluation to decide whether to make a loan. Customers who want or need to deal in cash have to drive farther to make deposits or get cash register funds.
Around me, it seems there are more banks than one knows what to do with, but at the same time, the number of ag-friendly banks is fewer.
Are there local, ag-friendly banks close to you?
