Re: Monkey Wards and Amazon
The income tax is what amazon should pay but all those campaign contributions are working pretty well.

Re: Monkey Wards and Amazon
Why should Amazon or any other company pay income tax? It's passed on to the consumer. I'd rather see companies pay no tax except for those necessary to support their operation, such as roads, sewer, etc and keep the prices low for me.
We keep fooling ourselves that if we tax others we aren't taking ourselves. The more taxes there are out there, the more bureaucracy is involved in collecting and allocating them.

Re: Monkey Wards and Amazon
reread your entry................... income tax is tax on profits........... is there a business in the US (other than non profits) that does not pay income tax???? (and even non profits should be filing a return to report their activity)
As a farmer I would like to not pay income tax on my business....... but that is not reality.....
Jim said "Why should Amazon or any other company pay income tax?"
Cold weather getting to ya, Jim......?
We're not fooling anybody...... every US business pays taxes......
What we need is the right to declare ourselves Saudi or Irish (or wherever the tax rate is lowest) farmers and still live and raise crops in the US to avoid US taxes.................. like Amazon and many other tech companies who still live in the US.

Re: Monkey Wards and Amazon
Taxes on business is what drives it out of areas and giving preference on taxes is what is used to draw them in. Like TIF.
Not changing my stance.
