Re: "socialist farmers"
Don't forget the '' cause and effect '' of socialism, let's say the Georgetown law graduate being in the headlines of late , or say Enron - Northern Nat. Gas , headlines , being by-products, of let them eat cake, in playing a winning hand game - - -
That being the actions, throwing gas of on the fire of socialism, being an excuse, or culprit , in the playing card deck of those examples - ?
Direct actions of mis - behavior in the game of ''' king of the mountain '' or ''' LOOK at ME ''' you peasants of collateral damage , then ask yourself where socialism crept in - ?
Would OFF Shore banking being a crafty work of capitalism, or an indirect path toward socialism - ?

Re: Sorry
But it got a lot worse when we started legislating life style and guaranteed benefits.
Most of the things we hear “entitlement to” should not be. Including a guaranteed wage— it just kills performance incentive.
When I hear socialism I think labor unions as best example. Capitalism is competition. Our goals for decades have been to punish winners (or make them pay for their success.

Re: Sorry
just to paraphrase one of the smart guys at New Ag Talk
"Socialism works, if you don't"
Granted, it doesn't work for very long but that is another story.

Re: Sorry
I have a hard time classifying the likes of antics of any so called capitalist , insider , a competition of any kind, if laundered money$ , being the avenue of success - - -
Is Labor Union success , and , ultimate '' demise '' , is also a co- product of upper level management sellout's on either side - maybe ?
Maybe a complete overturn of public transportation, to a pay as you go terms, could be beneficial, until the deals are cut after the fact for major players '' discount's '' or a exemption of use policy deal - ?
There would be a major discount on a dam site on Holt & Boyd county Nebraska , Niobrara River that starts in Wyoming, or the Republican River water rights of Colorado, Kansas, & Nebraska , a classic of would a private , capitalistic, deal as a remedy - ?
Bad players, may not be a commodity of short supply, with a magnifying glass to view the so called , GRAY Fringe AREA's of success - maybe ?
More equip $$$$ might help - maybe - ?

Re: Sorry
Maybe we could reimburse those S. Security payments and Medicare premiums , say on a 10 year payback, and drop those programs all together - maybe - no adjustments for inflation other than say like a pass book savings rate - - -
No F D I C - bail out insurance - either - - -
Freedom to Farm , re-invented, Freedom to Trade, also - - -

Re: "socialist farmers"
I still say socialism is being used as a trigger word to try to put people in a negative light. There are aspects of socialism in varying forms of government. Some argue socialism has never worked. But the UK is lot older than the and has more socialism aspects than the US for many years. While some think capitalism is perfect it does not work when all wealth is sent to the top. I still believe the person working deserves more credit than someone that inherited the money. In any firm of government greed will will take all if not limited in some fashion. The labeling of people generally reduces constructive discussion.

Re: "socialist farmers"
Ralph, that goes both ways, some that are "Left leaning" to make their case will say "you drive on public roads? You call the fire department if there`s a fire? If your home was broken in, you`d call the police? You sign up for the farm program and have subsidized crop insurance?....Weeeell congratulations, you`re a socialist! Sooo, you better shut up about free healthcare, free college, basic income, ect, ect ect".
See, once the ball is rolling and there`s half the country willing to exploit it, where do we stop? Reasonable people agree and have agreed about the need for a not for profit fire department, police department, roads and bridges. All those things make our lives better, we pay into them and government can do it better. Like schools in a low populated area, a private industry wouldn`t touch it or a farm where powerlines have to go 2 miles for just one farm. A private power company would say "sorry, sucks to be you. we`re not spending $100,000 to bring electricity to just your farm!".
The problem is "mission creep" and you see a certain political party with about 20 clowns running and licking their chops for 2020, all trying to out promise the other in their quest to buy votes.

Re: "socialist farmers"
How many coal mines did Margaret close - ? And Harold Wilson before that - due to it being a shuttered industry - ?
As far as roads go, or weights and measurements, or F A A , close 'em down - and in a short time , install the toll meters & see the results - - -
Government shut down worked perfectly, why did it end ?
ALSO, Social Security & Medicare also - why not - ? - TELL ME

Re: "socialist farmers"
In addition to being prime minister are you telling me Margret Thatcher owned mines too and closed them??? Busy lady.
Look I`m for the government taking care of roads and USDA inspecting and LABELING meat and FAA directing air traffic...those are some of the things that government can do better than private industry. I just don`t want anymore mission creep in increased benefits that the 20 clowns vying for the 2020 job application are promising. I know we`re not supposed to ask, but how will we pay for all these clown`s promises? TELL ME.
Social security...I pay in a lot and I`m counting the days until I collect and I`m gonna live a long time

Re: "socialist farmers"
Some wanted to close mines, others want them open - and you have your list to keep open, others have their list to keep open, that's how it works - - -
Medicare annual funding expenditures '' estimates '' for 2017 - $704.6 Billion + or - a few Billion here or there - - -
Social Security annual fund expenditures '' guesstiments for 2017 - $813. something Billion + or - a few B's - - -
Cash flow analysis being what side down - or inside out , your call, and while, '' you said '', Margaret owned coal mines, NOT I -
Long story short, get ready for Medicare premium INCREASES - BIG TIME, while S. S benefits increases stagnate - and hope those millennial age group keep sending in those W-2 slip withholding amounts, or the boomers will get a bad reality check of more insufficient funds - - -
